Our organization’s unique position at the intersection of Khan Lab School (a mastery-based lab school), Khan Academy (a globally influential online learning provider), and Schoolhouse.world (a peer-tutoring platform) is the foundation of our perspective on harnessing the strengths of each entity. This experience informs our approach to school design, the development of shareable resources, and our research and design initiatives.
Our Story
In 2012, Khan Academy founder Salman Khan outlined a new vision for education centered around student agency and mastery-based learning, documented in his book The One World Schoolhouse. Two years later, Sal started the first Khan Lab School in Mountain View, CA to test and refine this new vision for education in an actual school setting.
